Flower press

Probably each of us once dried plants in a book or prepared a herbarium for biology classes. Our press works on a similar principle. It consists of hard covers made of plywood. Between them there are not paper sheets, but dividers made of the appropriate thickness of cardboard. Like paper, cardboard absorbs moisture and helps flatten plants. To make the flat drying process even more efficient, all parts of the press can be screwed together. Thanks to this, the plants are properly pressed down, which allows them to maintain their beautiful form and colors. Using the press allows you to prepare your own pressed flowers. They work well as flowers for resin, glass, jewelry or scrapbooking. You can also make flower collages in glass, personalized graphics and pictures with the addition of dried flowers. Flowers dried in press are also useful for decorating greeting cards and invitations. Do you need more ideas?

How to press flowers?

Flower pressing is not difficult, but requires a bit of commitment and patience. You certainly shouldn't give up if your first attempts to create pressed flowers are not perfect. Plants are extremely fragile and delicate material, so they should be treated gently. Before drying flowers, leaves or herbs, it is important to prepare them properly. Collect flowers on a rainless day, preferably at noon. Pick plants that are not in full bloom as the plant can mature for several days after it has been cut. Tear off any unnecessary leaves, stem and side shoots before drying. In the next step, clean the plants from dust and dirt. You can use a soft brush. Start flower pressing adventure with small plants or petals that are quite flat by nature. Place them on cardboard dividers so that they do not touch each other. Then, on the plywood base, attach the cardboard pieces on top of each other. On the last one, attach the second plywood cover and tighten it firmly with the screws. Once every few days it is worth checking if the drying process is taking place properly. The drying time depends on the type and size of the plants. It can be up to several weeks.

A modern herb press

Will the press also prove useful in creating a herbarium? Of course! In our press, you can dry not only flowers. You can equally well prepare leaves, grasses and herbs for a school or family herbarium. Collecting nature's treasures and drying them in the press is a great idea for educational fun for the whole family.
