Physalis alkekengi is a perennial occurring mainly in the temperate climate of Europe and Asia. It is also known under the names of bladder cherry, winter cherry and Chinese lantern. It is easy to grow, hardy and it blooms practically till winter. Its fruits are used as a spice and thanks to high content of vitamin C it can be eaten in case of symptoms of cold.
