Xerophyllum tenax also commonly known as bear grass, is an extremely decorative plant with long, slender, arching leaves. Preserved bear grass is highly valued in floristry because its flexible leaves are ideal for creating decorative loops, spirals and light, airy arrangements. Sometimes, the stabilising solution does not reach the very tips of the long bear’s ear grass leaves. For this reason, some of them may have yellow, drier tips.
