Preserved roses - what are they and how are they made?

Preserved roses - what does it mean? This is a question that a lot of people ask themselves. The secret of these exceptional flowers lies in their specialised ‘processing’. The first step is to collect only the most beautiful roses in full bloom. The roses are then stabilised, i.e. placed in a glycerine-based fixative solution for a specific period of time, which replaces the natural plant juices and allows the flower to retain its beautiful appearance for up to several years. Stabilised roses are confusingly similar to cut flowers, but are much more durable. What is more, they smell beautiful.

In addition to their original appearance and natural texture, preservedl roses have other advantages. Unlike live flowers, they do not wilt. It is estimated that they retain their charm for two years, although in practice you will usually find that you can enjoy their beauty for longer. They do not droop or crumble. And, in addition, they do not require any care - just place them in a dish without water. What is more, they are available in a variety of colours, allowing you to incorporate a variety of floral ideas.

Everlasting roses - how to care for and store them?

Regardless of the fact that everlasting roses are completely ‘maintenance-free’, providing them with the right conditions helps to prolong their life. It is therefore advisable to ensure that the flowers are not exposed to a full sunlight, as they may fade. They should not be placed near a direct heat source, such as a radiator, or in areas of high humidity, such as the bathroom or where we cook. From time to time, it is advisable to remove dust from them with a soft broom or cloth. On the other hand, it is not advisable to touch the flowers frequently, as sweat and dirt on the hands can adversely affect their condition. Eternal roses can also be stored in a box placed in a dry and shady place. However, it is important that the packaging is made of ‘breathable’ material - e.g. cardboard and not plastic.

Everlasting roses find a number of uses. They look great in bouquets - including occasional bouquets created from fresh or stabilised plants. They can be used to create a composition to decorate your home, restaurant or party room. They look phenomenal as a table decoration, maintaining a beautiful appearance throughout the event. Dried gypsophila or preserved amaranth can also be an original and at the same time subtle complement.
